Kentucky Derby jockey set to ride in Breeders’ Cup arrested in Louisville
A veteran jockey slated to race in the Breeders' Cup this weekend has been arrested just days before the event is set to return to Keeneland. Ricardo Santana Jr., a veteran jockey set to race in the Breeders' Cup, has been arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, on two domestic violence charges. The charges stem from an argument between Santana and his girlfriend, who told police that Santana grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against kitchen cabinets causing pain to her head. The woman reported injuries to her back, hip, back, left palm and right wrist. Santana is charged with first-degree strangulation (domestic violence) and fourth-degree assault (dom domestic violence). He pleaded not guilty to the charges and his bond was set at $25,000.
