State energy planner weighs in on proposed Lewis County nuclear site

Eric King of Kentucky’s Energy Planning and Inventory Commission says the Prosperity One project is promising, but details will decide its future. The proposed Prosperity One nuclear power campus in Lewis County, Kentucky, could be the largest nuclear site in the United States if built. The Energy Planning and Inventory Commission (EPIC), which was created by the 2024 Kentucky General Assembly, has called the announcement significant. Eric King, executive director of EPIC, said the project could influence Kentucky's energy future but questions remain about timing and cost. King said the commission's role is to investigate the gap between announcement and electric service delivery. If built, the project, which could power more than 3 million homes, could power over 3 million households.
