Kentucky custody judge texted, ate and rolled her eyes in court, commission says
She has been suspended for 30 days without pay. In a domestic violence case, the commission’s order quotes her saying, “I just have to decide who to believe.” Laura Adams Ogden, a Jefferson County Family Court judge in Kentucky, has been suspended without pay by the state's Judicial Conduct Commission (JCC) for 30 days. The commission found she was guilty of bias, due process violations, failed to follow appellate rulings, and improper courtroom conduct. The JCC cited eight cases that established a pattern of misconduct. Ogden was accused of changing custody or restricting parenting time without adequate notice, factual findings, or abilities for the parents. She also failed to allow parents to present evidence, cross-examining witnesses or responding to allegations. Oggen will have to take an educational course before she returns to the bench. Her current term expires in January 2031.
